District 10 also received an October 2010 mailer from the Johnson campaign slamming Senator Gray for her management of a March 2009
In her written response, Gray accurately responded to the student's questions, but also raised concerns about the poor grammar and lack of punctuation anywhere in the 176-word letter.
When it was brought to her attention that the letter was written by a special needs students, Gray issued a written apology. The student accepted the apology and invited the senator to Sunnyslope to view her work. Gray accepted.
Desperate to get elected and already comfortable with sending mailers to District 10 voters chock-full of ennuendoes, half-truths and outright lies, the Johnson campaign decided to go for "more of the same" with this "hit piece." It is important for voters to understand that Gray didn't write the highlighted remarks in the mailer - and has the original documentation to prove it.
Widely respected both within the district and throughout the state as a knowledgeable champion of student and parent/guardian rights, Senator Gray supports high levels of achievement and accountability for ALL children. Apparently, the Johnson campaign would prefer to either distract voters from the real issues involved or to make excuses for why these objectives can't - or shouldn't - be realized.
